Samer Choucair: IMF Projections on Egypt Reveal Strategic Opportunities for Saudi Investors*

By 2030, Egypt is projected to top the list of Africa's largest economies with a GDP of roughly 611 billion dollars — and investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair believes Saudi investors who recognize this shift early stand to benefit most. He affirmed that these projections represent an important indicator of the economic transformations underway in the region, opening new investment opportunities for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states within Vision 2030's targets.

He noted that IMF estimates project Egypt's GDP reaching roughly 611 billion dollars by 2030, ahead of South Africa at roughly 555 billion, Nigeria at 465 billion, Algeria at 325 billion, and Morocco at 263 billion, reflecting the growing stature of the Egyptian economy at the continental level.

*Economic Reforms Support the Growth Path*

Choucair explained that this progress wasn't accidental, but came as a result of a package of economic reforms, alongside benefiting from Egypt's strategic geographic position as a gateway for trade between Africa, Asia, and Europe via the Suez Canal.

He added that Egypt's joining the BRICS group, alongside the activation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, strengthened its role as a commercial and logistics hub serving more than 1.4 billion people, raising the Egyptian market's appeal to regional and international investors.

*Infrastructure Has Become the Primary Growth Driver*

Choucair noted that the major national projects Egypt is implementing represent one of the most prominent economic growth factors, led by the New Administrative Capital, the high-speed electric rail network, port development, and solar and wind energy projects in Benban and the Gulf of Suez.

He added that these projects' effects aren't limited to supporting the local economy, but create broad opportunities for global and regional companies to participate in financing, implementation, and providing modern technical solutions.

*Saudi Expertise Holds Major Opportunities in the Egyptian Market*

Choucair affirmed that the boom Africa's infrastructure sector is experiencing opens the door for Saudi companies to transfer the expertise they've gained from implementing Vision 2030 projects, such as NEOM, Qiddiya, and Diriyah, to the Egyptian and neighboring African markets.

He added that Saudi contracting, logistics, engineering, and consulting companies hold major opportunities to participate in the development projects the region is witnessing in the coming years.

*Where the Opportunities Lie for Investors*

Choucair noted that a number of sectors represent important investment opportunities for Saudi and Gulf investors, led by infrastructure and contracting, renewable energy, tourism and real estate, agriculture and food security, in addition to financial services and technology startups.

He explained that these sectors directly align with Vision 2030's priorities, and contribute to diversifying investment portfolios and building economic value chains between the Kingdom, Egypt, and African markets.

*Egypt Represents a Strategic Gateway to Africa*

Choucair affirmed that Egypt's expected leadership of African economies doesn't just mean achieving an economic figure, but reflects its transformation into a strategic platform for accessing the continent's markets.

He added that the investor who views Egypt as a launching point toward the African market will be better positioned to benefit from growth opportunities, particularly amid the African Continental Free Trade Agreement providing access to a market encompassing more than 1.4 billion consumers.

*Long-Term Partnerships Achieve the Best Returns*

Choucair explained that the current stage requires focusing on building long-term strategic partnerships, instead of seeking quick gains.

He added that Saudi companies that succeed in building strong alliances with Egyptian institutions will be better positioned to benefit from the economic stability and international support Egypt enjoys, strengthening sustainable growth opportunities in the coming years.

*Green Energy and Infrastructure Lead the Period Ahead*

Choucair noted that the four remaining years until 2030 represent an important window for investors to enter infrastructure and clean energy sectors, affirming that these fields possess major potential for achieving high returns, provided they rely on diversification, risk management, and building strong local partnerships.

*Regional Investment Shapes the Future of Growth*

He concluded by affirming that Egypt's expected leadership of African economies by 2030 reflects a regional economic transformation extending beyond numbers, opening the door to a new phase of cooperation and investment between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

He added that success in the period ahead will belong to investors who combine long-term vision, speed of execution, and a deep understanding of market variables, affirming that building sustainable strategic partnerships is the optimal path for achieving growth and supporting Vision 2030's targets.
