Samer Choucair: HUMAIN-Cohere Partnership Strengthens the Future of Artificial Intelligence in Saudi Arabia

Investment expert Samer Choucair said the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN and Canadian AI company Cohere marks an important step toward building a national artificial intelligence ecosystem and reflects the Kingdom's accelerating investment in digital infrastructure under Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that the focus on developing enterprise-grade AI models will enhance Saudi Arabia's competitiveness across advanced technology sectors.

Choucair explained that the agreement includes the establishment of a specialized AI center in the Kingdom, with approximately 50 Cohere specialists participating in the initial phase and the potential to expand cooperation in the coming years. He said the partnership will support knowledge transfer, strengthen national talent development, and enhance the ability of Saudi institutions to build AI applications that meet data security and digital sovereignty requirements.

He added that partnerships of this nature reflect a global shift in investment priorities, where attention has expanded beyond AI applications to include high-performance computing infrastructure, data centers, cloud computing, and cybersecurity—sectors expected to experience rapid growth in the years ahead.

Choucair pointed out that Saudi Arabia possesses strong fundamentals to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence, supported by government initiatives, significant investment, expanding digital transformation projects, and growing demand for advanced AI solutions across financial services, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.

He emphasized that investment opportunities also extend to companies operating in energy and digital infrastructure, driven by the anticipated increase in demand for data centers and advanced computing capacity, as well as software developers, cloud service providers, and businesses specializing in data management technologies.

Choucair explained that the long-term success of AI investments depends on building an integrated ecosystem that combines technology, skilled talent, supportive regulations, and international partnerships, ensuring sustainable growth while strengthening Saudi Arabia's ability to attract high-quality foreign investment.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair said investment in artificial intelligence now extends far beyond technology companies to encompass an entire economic ecosystem that includes infrastructure, energy, digital services, and human capital. He added that this positions Saudi Arabia to capitalize on the global shift toward the digital economy while reinforcing its status as a regional hub for next-generation technologies.
