After Global Food Prices Decline, Samer Choucair Highlights Top Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia”s Agricultural Sector

Venture investor Samer Choucair said that the recent decline in global food prices presents an important opportunity to strengthen investment in the agricultural sector, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia possesses strong fundamentals to capitalize on these developments by expanding modern farming and agricultural technologies in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Samer Choucair explained that the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Food Price Index declined by 0.3% in June 2026, driven by lower cereal and sugar prices as the harvest season progressed. He noted that this creates a more stable environment for investment across the agriculture and food industries.

He added that these developments are about more than lower prices. They represent an important economic signal that creates new opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs to develop high-value agricultural and food production projects.

**Stable Food Prices Support Agricultural Investment**

Samer Choucair noted that lower global food prices help reduce production cost pressures while providing investors with greater opportunities to expand technology-driven agricultural projects.

He explained that Saudi Arabia is rapidly advancing its food security strategy through investments in smart agriculture, protected farming, hydroponics, and aquaculture, all of which contribute to higher productivity and more efficient use of natural resources.

According to Samer Choucair, the opportunities extend well beyond agricultural production to include food manufacturing, cold-chain infrastructure, and logistics services, significantly enhancing the sector's overall economic value.

**Vision 2030 Strengthens Food Security and Sustainability**

Samer Choucair emphasized that Saudi Vision 2030 has positioned food security as a central pillar of the Kingdom's economic development strategy by increasing self-sufficiency across key agricultural products, reducing food waste, and improving Saudi Arabia's standing in global food security rankings.

He pointed out that the Public Investment Fund, through the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), is leading strategic investments both domestically and internationally to strengthen food supply stability while supporting the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies.

Samer Choucair also highlighted the role of the Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance in connecting startups with government institutions and private-sector partners while accelerating the adoption of smart irrigation systems, artificial intelligence, and solar energy solutions throughout the agricultural sector.

**Smart Agriculture Will Drive the Next Phase of Growth**

Samer Choucair explained that current global trends are making smart agriculture one of the most promising investment sectors for the coming years.

He said that building an integrated ecosystem combining agricultural technology, renewable energy, logistics, and food manufacturing will transform agriculture into one of Saudi Arabia's most important non-oil economic growth engines.

He further noted that stable global food prices provide investors with an ideal opportunity to expand domestic production capacity, reduce reliance on imports, and enhance the competitiveness of Saudi agricultural products.

**Leading Investment Opportunities in Agriculture**

Samer Choucair stated that the current market environment offers numerous attractive investment opportunities. These include expanding protected agriculture, hydroponics, and aquaculture; developing smart irrigation systems and artificial intelligence solutions for water and crop management; investing in solar energy applications for agricultural operations; expanding value-added food manufacturing, including date processing and specialized food products; strengthening cold-chain logistics and food storage infrastructure; and building strategic partnerships with SALIC and other organizations supporting modern agricultural development.

He emphasized that these sectors offer compelling long-term investment opportunities aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

**Success Begins with Planning and Strategic Partnerships**

Samer Choucair explained that successful agricultural investment depends on adopting advanced technologies, leveraging government financing programs, and building strategic partnerships with specialized organizations across the sector.

He added that diversifying investment portfolios across agriculture, renewable energy, logistics, and emerging technologies helps reduce risk while supporting sustainable growth. According to Samer Choucair, successful investing is built on long-term planning rather than the pursuit of short-term gains.

**Agriculture Has Become a Key Driver of Saudi Arabia's Economy**

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair stressed that the continued implementation of Vision 2030 projects, combined with SALIC's expanding investments and the growing adoption of modern agricultural technologies, is positioning agriculture as one of Saudi Arabia's most attractive investment sectors in the years ahead.

He concluded that investors who act today with a long-term strategic perspective will be best positioned to benefit from the sector's transformation, emphasizing that investing in food security is no longer simply an economic decision but an investment in the sustainability of the national economy and the long-term prosperity of the Kingdom.
