Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair affirmed that reports indicating King Charles III and Queen Camilla don't intend to permanently reside at Buckingham Palace after the renovation project, estimated to cost roughly 369 million pounds sterling, concludes, reflect the growing challenges facing historic asset management amid rising construction and maintenance costs around the world, noting that these developments carry important lessons for investors when evaluating the economic feasibility of long-term assets.

He explained that rising raw material, labor, and maintenance costs, alongside global inflationary pressures, are pushing investors to focus on assets capable of generating sustainable cash flows, rather than assets requiring high operating expenses without direct economic returns.

Choucair added: "Successful investing today depends on achieving balance between preserving assets' historic value and their ability to generate sustainable income, and amid the current economic environment, the importance of projects combining cultural dimension with investment return is growing."

*Saudi Arabia's Different Model*

Samer Choucair noted that Saudi Arabia offers a different model through Vision 2030's projects, which rely on developing heritage sites and turning them into tourist, cultural, and economic destinations. The Kingdom welcomed roughly 116 million tourists during 2024, surpassing Vision 2030's target of 100 million visitors six years ahead of schedule, after which the Kingdom raised its target to 150 million tourists annually by 2030, backed by major projects such as AlUla, Diriyah, and Red Sea projects.

Choucair said: "Investing in Saudi Arabia isn't limited to preserving heritage, it focuses on deploying it as a driver of economic growth, which offers promising opportunities in tourism, hospitality, real estate, and entertainment sectors, backed by an advanced investment environment and continuous economic reforms."

He concluded by affirming that investors during 2026 should focus on high-growth non-oil sectors, and diversify their investments within the Kingdom, while choosing local partners with experience in implementing major projects, explaining that Saudi Arabia has become one of the most prominent global destinations for long-term investment thanks to its economic stability, development programs, and Vision 2030's targets, which continue creating quality investment opportunities.
