Samer Choucair: Rescue Robots Are Reshaping Investment Priorities in Industrial Automation

Entrepreneur Samer Choucair said the industrial-robotics sector is undergoing rapid transformation as reliance grows on specialized robots capable of operating in high-risk environments, including disaster zones, fires, and industrial facilities.

He explained that this shift is redirecting investment toward technologies combining operating efficiency with the highest safety standards.

Choucair noted that global markets no longer assess robots solely according to their ability to perform tasks, but also according to their capacity to reduce risks to human workers and ensure safe operation.

Remote-control systems and emergency shutdown mechanisms have therefore become key factors in the valuation of companies operating in the sector.

Samer Choucair added that the global robotics market continues to record strong growth, driven by the expansion of industrial automation, while robots designed for hazardous tasks are attracting increasing interest from governments and companies.

Demand is rising for solutions capable of reducing workplace accidents and lowering operating and insurance costs.

He explained that this trend creates promising investment opportunities for Gulf economies, led by Saudi Arabia, as the Kingdom continues implementing the objectives of Vision 2030 to localize artificial-intelligence and robotics technologies.

These efforts support the development of an advanced industrial and technological base capable of competing globally.

Choucair noted that energy, infrastructure, mining, and facilities management are among the sectors likely to benefit most from specialized robots because of their ability to operate more efficiently in hazardous locations while allowing human professionals to focus on higher-value supervisory and analytical responsibilities.

“Capital is moving toward companies that place safety at the centre of product design rather than treating it as a later addition,” Samer Choucair said. “Institutional investors are seeking solutions that reduce operating risks while generating sustainable returns.”

He added that success in this field will depend on companies’ ability to develop practical solutions that can be integrated into daily operations while maintaining strong governance and risk-management standards.

The expansion of specialized robotics will also create new opportunities across industrial software, sensor systems, secure communications, and technology supply chains.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair emphasized that the next phase of competition will shift from merely possessing technology to deploying it with economic efficiency.

He said technologies capable of protecting human workers while simultaneously improving productivity will attract the greatest investment during the coming years.
