Samer Choucair: Egyptian Petroleum Company Listings Strengthen North Africa’s Investment Appeal

Entrepreneur Samer Choucair said the expansion of plans to list companies affiliated with Egypt’s petroleum and mineral-resources sector on the Egyptian Exchange represents an important step toward strengthening the private sector’s role and broadening the ownership base.

He noted that these offerings could increase the Egyptian capital market’s appeal to domestic and international investors, provided they are implemented according to clear standards of transparency and governance.

Choucair explained that the government’s asset-offering programme reflects the continuation of economic reforms and efforts to improve the management efficiency of public assets.

It also gives institutional investors opportunities to acquire stakes in companies with operating assets and extensive experience across the energy sector, potentially supporting portfolio diversification and increasing market depth.

Samer Choucair noted that listing additional petroleum-sector companies would broaden the range of industries represented on the Egyptian Exchange.

This would provide investors with a wider selection of opportunities and help attract long-term capital seeking businesses with established operating capabilities and growth potential.

He added that the success of these offerings will depend not only on the scale of the assets being listed, but also on the quality of financial valuations, the clarity of development plans, and the stability of the regulatory environment.

International investors place considerable importance on disclosure standards, governance, and the sustainability of financial performance when making investment decisions.

Choucair said the continuation of Egypt’s economic reforms strengthens the potential to attract investment into energy, industrial services, and logistics, particularly as regional and international funds show growing interest in markets offering growth opportunities supported by structural reforms.

Samer Choucair emphasized that companies operating in petroleum services, engineering, and petrochemicals are well positioned to benefit from the expansion of energy and infrastructure projects.

However, investors will continue monitoring developments in global energy markets, the pace of implementation of the government offering programme, and the stability of economic policies as key factors affecting risk and return assessments.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair said government offerings provide an opportunity to redirect capital toward productive, value-adding assets.

He explained that the programme’s success would strengthen investor confidence in the Egyptian capital market and pave the way for a new wave of listings across other sectors, supporting Egypt’s position as an important investment hub in North African markets.
