Samer Choucair: Samsung’s Screenless Smart Glasses Are Reshaping the Future of Wearable Technology

Entrepreneur Samer Choucair said Samsung’s announcement that it is entering the smart-glasses market with a device powered by Google’s Gemini model and the Android XR operating system represents a strategic shift in the technology industry.

He noted that the company’s decision to omit an integrated display reflects a move toward lighter devices that are more suitable for everyday use, with an emphasis on interactive artificial intelligence rather than conventional augmented-reality screens.

Choucair explained that competition is no longer limited to offering superior technical specifications. It increasingly depends on developing an integrated ecosystem combining artificial intelligence, hardware, and cloud services.

This creates stronger growth opportunities for companies capable of delivering a seamless and interconnected user experience.

The announced specifications indicate that the glasses will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and include a 12-megapixel camera, a battery capable of supporting several hours of use, and interaction through voice commands, touch controls, and gestures.

The device is also expected to provide services including real-time translation, message summarization, navigation assistance, and access to artificial intelligence capabilities through a connected smartphone.

Samer Choucair added that this direction strengthens the investment appeal of companies operating in specialized semiconductors, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence-enabled software.

He noted that integrating the glasses with Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem could support demand for smartphones and smartwatches while reinforcing the strength of the company’s broader technology platform.

Choucair said investors will closely monitor adoption rates following the product’s expected commercial launch during 2026, viewing them as a key indicator of whether screenless smart glasses can compete with existing products, led by Meta’s smart glasses.

He emphasized that removing the display is not merely a cost-reduction measure. It reflects recognition that weight, comfort, and battery life have become decisive factors in purchasing decisions, particularly as artificial intelligence increasingly functions as an everyday assistant operating in the background without requiring complex visual interfaces.

Samer Choucair said this trend could create new investment opportunities in eyewear design, smart accessories, prescription lenses, and start-ups developing artificial intelligence applications for wearable devices, while global spending on cloud infrastructure continues to expand.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair emphasized that the next phase will bring intensifying competition among companies capable of integrating hardware, software, and digital services within a single ecosystem.

He added that ambient artificial intelligence will become one of the most important drivers of growth in the consumer-electronics market over the coming years, and that the success of this product category will redirect capital flows toward companies demonstrating the strongest capacity for innovation and technological integration.
