Samer Choucair: Decline in Saudi Central Bank Assets Reflects Active Financial Management and Reinforces Investor Confidence

Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair emphasized that economic indicators should always be assessed within the broader context of the economy rather than through monthly movements in a single metric. He noted that the Saudi Central Bank’s announcement showing total assets declining to **SAR 1.939 trillion** at the end of May 2026, a monthly decrease of **SAR 12.1 billion**, should not be viewed in isolation as an indicator of the overall health of the Saudi economy.

Samer Choucair explained that fluctuations in central bank balance sheets often reflect the dynamic management of assets and liabilities and are influenced by a range of factors, including global market movements, monetary policy decisions, and reserve management strategies. As a result, he said, such changes should always be interpreted alongside a broader set of economic indicators.

Samer Choucair said, “Major economies are evaluated through a comprehensive range of indicators rather than a single monthly figure. The strength of the Saudi economy should be measured by private sector performance, the growth of non-oil economic activity, liquidity and credit levels, and the continued implementation of Saudi Vision 2030.”

He pointed out that recent economic data continues to show growth in lending to the private sector, alongside an expansion in the money supply. According to Samer Choucair, these indicators demonstrate continued economic activity and ongoing financing for businesses and investments, supporting the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification objectives.

He added that Saudi Arabia’s ongoing economic and regulatory reforms, combined with major investments in tourism, logistics, technology, and renewable energy, continue to enhance the Kingdom’s appeal to both domestic and international investors.

Samer Choucair emphasized that investors should focus on sectors aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and base their investment decisions on long-term analysis while maintaining diversified portfolios and closely monitoring official economic indicators.

He identified tourism and entertainment, technology and artificial intelligence, clean energy, logistics, and real estate development as some of the most promising sectors for future investment, supported by the continued rollout of strategic projects that are driving the growth of Saudi Arabia’s non-oil economy.

In conclusion, Samer Choucair stressed that the Saudi economy remains firmly on its transformation path under a clear long-term vision. He noted that a balanced interpretation of economic data enables more informed investment decisions and that the true strength of a market should be measured by the sustainability and diversity of its growth rather than by periodic fluctuations in individual financial indicators.
