Samer Choucair: Robotaxis Draw the Contours of New Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia
The rapid advancement in self-driving vehicle and robotaxi technologies marks the start of a new phase for smart transport, according to investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair, who explained that this shift opens broad investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, which continues implementing its ambitious projects under Saudi Vision 2030.
He explained that the transition from trial phases to actual operation of self-driving vehicle services in a number of global markets confirms that this sector has become one of the digital economy's main drivers, with accompanying opportunities in artificial intelligence, software, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.
He added that the Kingdom is working to build an integrated smart mobility ecosystem by developing regulatory frameworks, encouraging partnerships with global companies, and investing in smart cities, strengthening its position as a regional hub for future technologies.
He noted that investing in the smart mobility sector isn't limited to self-driving vehicles, but also encompasses data centers, telecommunications networks, charging station infrastructure, digital solutions, and supply chains, sectors poised to achieve accelerating growth in the coming years.
He affirmed that Saudi Vision 2030 has provided an attractive investment environment for these industries through supporting innovation, developing local content, and attracting quality investment, strengthening the private sector's opportunities to participate in building a knowledge-based economy relying on advanced technologies.
Choucair called on investors to focus on companies possessing innovative technical solutions and sustainable business models, while diversifying investment portfolios to include sectors tied to artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and clean energy, given what they represent as core pillars for the future of mobility.
He concluded his remarks by affirming that the shift toward smart, self-driving vehicles is no longer a future concept, but has become a reality gradually taking shape, and that the investor who keeps pace with these shifts through a long-term vision will be better positioned to benefit from the opportunities the new economy offers in the Kingdom and the region.
