Why are people paying thousands for designer sneakers

Sneakers were once seen as everyday shoes, but today, certain pairs can sell for thousands of dollars. Limited-edition releases and collaborations with celebrities have turned sneakers into valuable collectibles.

One reason people are willing to pay so much is exclusivity. When brands release only a small number of pairs, demand can become much higher than supply. This can cause resale prices to rise far above the original price.

Some collectors even treat sneakers like investments, hoping to sell them later for a profit. However, trends change quickly, and not every expensive pair will increase in value.

I think sneaker culture shows how much influence brands and social media have over what people consider valuable.

The real question is whether buyers are paying for the quality of the shoes or simply the excitement of owning something that other people cannot easily get.
