Samer Choucair: New Protein Research Is Reshaping Investment Opportunities in Healthy Foods

Entrepreneur Samer Choucair said recent scientific developments in nutrition could prompt investors to reassess their strategies across the food and nutritional-supplements sector, noting that future growth will depend increasingly on products grounded in scientific evidence and personalized nutrition rather than marketing trends alone.

Choucair explained that a recent scientific review covering more than 350 studies indicated that optimal protein requirements vary according to age, physical-activity levels, and health status.

The review also examined evidence suggesting that reducing protein intake or certain amino acids may be associated with improvements in some metabolic indicators under specific conditions. However, Choucair emphasized that most of these findings were based on preclinical studies or limited human trials and do not suggest that reducing protein intake is appropriate for everyone.

He added that protein remains an essential nutrient for maintaining muscle mass and supporting recovery, particularly among athletes, older adults, and people undertaking resistance training.

This is consistent with modern nutritional recommendations emphasizing the importance of adapting protein intake to individual needs.

Samer Choucair noted that the global protein market continues to expand, supported by rising demand for functional foods, beverages, and nutritional supplements.

Investors, however, are becoming more interested in companies that invest in research and development and provide personalized nutrition solutions based on scientific data rather than relying primarily on marketing campaigns.

He emphasized that precision nutrition, metabolic-health products, and digital applications offering personalized dietary programmes are likely to rank among the fastest-growing areas over the coming years, particularly as artificial intelligence and health data are increasingly used to provide more accurate nutritional recommendations.

Regarding the region, Choucair explained that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have significant opportunities to benefit from this transformation under the objectives of Vision 2030.

These opportunities include supporting advanced food industries, strengthening innovation in nutrition and health, and investing in research that contributes to the development of products tailored to the needs of consumers across the region.

Samer Choucair added that institutional investors are gradually directing more capital toward companies that combine scientific innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and strong brands.

He said this model is likely to be best positioned to generate sustainable returns as consumer preferences continue to evolve.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair emphasized that the future of the food industry will not depend on increasing consumption of any single nutrient, but on providing balanced nutritional solutions based on scientific evidence and individual needs.

He noted that companies capable of adapting to this shift will be the most likely to attract capital during the coming years.
