Samer Choucair: Reading Market Structure Has Become Key to Successful Institutional Investment

Entrepreneur Samer Choucair said understanding market structure and price behaviour has become one of the essential foundations of more efficient investment decision-making.

He explained that institutional investors no longer rely on fundamental analysis alone, but combine economic indicators with technical analysis and risk management to identify the strongest capital-allocation opportunities.

Choucair noted that global interest-rate volatility, changing capital-flow trends, and heightened market uncertainty have increased the importance of monitoring price trends and support and resistance levels.

These tools help investors assess the balance between supply and demand and determine entry and exit points more systematically.

Samer Choucair explained that institutional investors place particular importance on confirming market trends before building substantial positions.

Prices remaining above major resistance levels or rebounding from strong support zones can provide more reliable signals than temporary price movements, although these indicators must always be assessed alongside economic conditions and corporate performance.

He added that the Saudi Exchange has gained greater depth in recent years through economic reforms, an increasing number of listings, and stronger participation by domestic and foreign investors.

This makes market-structure analysis increasingly important when evaluating opportunities, particularly in sectors connected to Saudi Vision 2030, including industry, tourism, logistics, and technology.

Choucair emphasized that risk management remains the most important element of any investment strategy.

He noted that setting clear stop-loss levels and maintaining an appropriate risk-to-return ratio are common practices among asset managers, although the relevant standards vary according to the nature of each market and investment strategy.

Samer Choucair explained that rapid advances in trading technology and the use of artificial intelligence and algorithms have increased the speed of transaction execution.

However, these developments have not reduced the importance of interpreting market behaviour and understanding liquidity movements, as long-term investment decisions continue to depend on asset quality, governance, and economic fundamentals alongside technical analysis.

Concluding his remarks, Samer Choucair emphasized that successful investors combine fundamental and technical analysis with disciplined risk management.

He said the ability to interpret market structure and assess price trends in a balanced manner will remain a principal factor in building investment portfolios capable of generating sustainable returns across Saudi and Gulf markets in the years ahead.
