Samer Choucair: Rising Tech Prices Open New Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia

Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair affirmed that the recent developments in the global technology market reflect a structural shift in major companies' business models, noting that intensive investment in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure is pushing companies to reassess their pricing strategies to maintain profitability levels and finance their future plans.

He explained that the reports circulating about Apple raising prices on some of its products vary by market and product, and specific percentages such as an increase ranging between 5% and 10% can't be generalized across all devices, as pricing policy depends on multiple factors including tariffs, production costs, exchange rates, and each market's conditions.

Samer Choucair said: "The current shifts aren't just tied to rising prices, they reflect a global race to invest in artificial intelligence technologies, advanced chips, and cloud computing, investments requiring major capital spending from technology companies."

He added that markets are watching the decisions of other major companies, such as Samsung and Microsoft, but there are no official announcements yet confirming they're following the same approach of raising prices, noting that each company will determine its strategy according to its costs, market share, and level of competition.

He affirmed that these shifts represent an opportunity for Saudi Arabia to accelerate efforts to localize technical industries, develop digital infrastructure, and support startups working in artificial intelligence and cloud computing fields, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's targets.

He added: "The real investment opportunities aren't limited to device manufacturers, they extend to data centers, cloud services, cybersecurity, and software development, sectors poised to achieve strong growth in the coming years."

He concluded by affirming the importance of building diverse investment portfolios, following technology companies' results, and focusing on companies with sustainable capacity for innovation and cost management, while capitalizing on digital transformation programs and government investment in the Kingdom, noting that the investor who adopts a long-term vision will be best positioned to benefit from the accelerating shifts the global technology sector is experiencing.
