Samer Choucair: GTA 6 Confirms the Future of Digital Economy Investment Begins Now

Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair affirmed that global interest in Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) reflects the accelerating transformation underway in the digital economy, explaining that the gaming industry is no longer just an entertainment sector, but has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in the global economy, given the investment opportunities it offers in content development, digital infrastructure, and esports.

He noted that Rockstar Games set the game's launch date for May 26, 2026, after delaying it from fall 2025, while parent company Take-Two Interactive expects the release to be one of the most important drivers of its revenue growth during fiscal year 2027. As for the figures circulating about 39 million pre-orders or achieving 3 billion dollars before launch, no official data has been issued confirming them, so they can't be relied upon at this time.

He added that Saudi Arabia is among the most prominent countries investing in this sector, as Savvy Games Group, owned by the Public Investment Fund, announced an investment strategy worth up to 38 billion dollars to develop the gaming and esports ecosystem, within Vision 2030's targets aimed at diversifying the economy and strengthening digital industries.

Samer Choucair said: "Investing in video games isn't limited to developing the games themselves, it encompasses data centers, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, content production, and professional tournaments, sectors that achieve added economic value and provide quality jobs."

He explained that the National Gaming and Esports Strategy targets the sector contributing roughly 50 billion Saudi riyals to GDP by 2030, alongside creating 39,000 direct and indirect jobs, and launching 250 gaming companies, reflecting the scale of ambition the Kingdom is pursuing in this field.

He affirmed that investors looking to benefit from this growth should focus on companies specialized in technologies supporting gaming, investments in local content, and partnerships with global developers, with the necessity of building long-term investments based on careful study of technical and market variables.

He concluded by affirming that the esports and gaming sector has become one of the main drivers of the global digital economy, and that the Kingdom possesses the fundamentals needed to be a regional and global hub for this industry, thanks to massive investments, digital infrastructure, and continuous government support within Saudi Vision 2030's framework.
